Faro municipality beaches

Praia da Barrinha is very quiet and usually deserted. Due to the natural conditions it is a perfect beach for birdwatching, hiking, sailing, canoeing, windsurfing, kitesurfing and SUP. It can be accessed on foot from Praia de Faro, through a long wooden walkway, or by boat. This beach is not supervised nor does it have support infrastructure.

Praia da Culatra, on the island with the same name, still preserves its roots as a fishing village and has a population of approximately 750 inhabitants. Access to Culatra is only by boat. There are connections from Olhão, all year round, and from Faro, from Cais da Porta Nova. This beach is supervised and has toilets during the bathing season but has no other support infrastructure.

Praia do Farol, on Ilha da Culatra, has an extensive beach of great natural beauty, a perfect beach for refreshing baths and long walks. Access to Ilha do Farol is only by boat. There are connections from Olhão, all year round, and from Faro, from Cais da Porta Nova. This beach is supervised and has a first-aid post in two places, during the bathing season and also has toilets.

Praia da Barreta is one of the best preserved and least frequented beaches in the Algarve. Access is by boat, from Cais da Porta Nova, in Faro. The beach is supervised during the bathing season and has a support restaurant.

Praia de Faro is located on the Ancão Peninsula, in the middle of the Ria Formosa Natural Park. It is frequented by thousands of bathers, attracted by the natural beauty, the temperate of the waters and the sun. It has an intense tourist activity during the summer. It has several nautical activities. On this beach there are some restaurants where you can enjoy the typical dishes of the area and the great diversity of seafood. Try the "Arroz de Lingueirão", a typical Algarvian dish. The lifeguard service is provided at six beach posts. Access to Praia de Faro is via a bridge, where traffic can circulate by car or by boat. The river careers start in Faro at Cais da Porta Nova (Portas do Mar).
